Participating in zoom spaces

To participate in the Zoom spaces, you will use the zoom links and passwords sent to you in advance of the conference.

While you are in the Event Room, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Keep your mic muted unless you are speaking.
  • Feel free to change your Zoom display name to include the name you go by and your pronoun. (To change it, hover over your profile window and click the three dots. On the drop-down menu, select “rename” and change your name as you like.)
  • Use the chat to create a backchannel conversation about the event; the chat is a great way to participate non-verbally.
  • Use whatever participatory modalities you like: video on or off; audio or chat questions, comments, and conversation; dress however you like; etc.
  • To ask a question or participate in discussions, use the “raise hand” feature on Zoom (accessible by clicking the “participants” option at the bottom of the Zoom screen)

If you would like to extend a conversation via mic or chat with one or more people, please feel free to move to the Hallway Zoom, which will be available throughout the duration of the preconference. The Hallway Zoom will not be recorded.

We will be recording the Keynote panel, the Book Highlights, and the Citation Politics Roundtable for a feature on the ARSTM youtube channel.

In the unlikely event that we experience zoom bombing (the sudden intrusion of uninvited people with the intention to harass and harm), Kenny will immediately end the Zoom and email participants and attendees with follow-up instructions.
